PreS-Very basic activity songs for toddlers are each given their own small book, with stiff pages for little hands, and bright, simple illustrations. Instructions (without drawings) are included for the fingerplays/activities at the end of the books, as well as a list of benefits to children who are exposed to these rhymes and actions. No music is included, making the books less useful for adults who don't know the tunes. More attractive versions of these finger activities exist with extra verses and fun illustrations suitable to use in preschool storytimes, such as offerings by Ida Trapani and Nadine Westcott. These books would probably be best used in toddler sessions, where the very simplified and large pictures could be shared with a group before everyone has a hand at trying the actions."Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA"
