      PreS-Gr 2-This addition to the "Ready to Read" series introduces children to Gregory, Grandpa's pet elephant who refuses to move, even though Donkey Hodie promised to take the elephant for a walk. Readers meet a cloud, a dog, a duck, and a panda along the journey: all offer valuable suggestions to get Gregory walking. In the end, not only does Donkey Hodie figure out a way to get the elephant moving, but Donkey keeps his word to Grandpa. Children get a lesson in the importance of duty and persistence, while enlisting the help of some friendly characters. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills pair perfectly with this emerging reader, while colorful, detailed pictures provide engaging visuals. VERDICT This title is a natural progression in the adorable series. -Tanya Haynes
