Amateur sleuth, Will Sullivan, is headed south, for the warm sunny beaches of North Carolina.
The pet shop owner, along with his girlfriend Sarah, his dog Rowdy, and their three-pawed kitten Basket, hopes to get away from it all, even if just for a little while.
As luck would have it, however, mystery always seems to follow the mild-mannered animal lover. Soon after arriving, Rowdy digs up a bone from the sand of their private stretch of beach that opens the door to a whole host of issues.
What was supposed to be a romantic getaway becomes an exploration into a three-year-old cold case, which means the end of their hopes for a relaxing time at the beach.
