After the winter's blast, summer will be a welcome delight. Spend more time living outdoors with an outdoor kitchen. Coauthors Cory and Slavik, who previously collaborated on titles such as Affordable Kitchen Upgrades, provide fantastic advice for making the outdoor kitchen that meets your needs and your budget. The book keeps it real--making note of cost-saving alternatives with pros and cons defined. Homeowners are also instructed to check local ordinances and building codes and to be aware when it's really better to hire a professional for specialized work. Planning considerations and recommendations on materials and equipment are followed by a gallery of example kitchens. A selection of building projects rounds out the title. This pairs well will other idea books for outdoor kitchens, such as Lee Anne White's Outdoor Kitchen Ideas That Work or Deborah Krasner's The New Outdoor Kitchen. VERDICT This is an excellent introduction to outdoor kitchens and certainly the first place an interested homeowner should start. The advice and tips are frank, with construction estimates to help budgeting, while the instruction is solid, with large illustrations.
