Abbott Elementary meets Ali Hazelwood in this spicy rivals-to-lovers rom-com starring two kindergarten teachers whose one night stand leads to an unexpected nine-month lesson in love.

Quirky, free-spirited Valerie Marquez likes to make sure her kindergarten class has fun while learning. Uptight, by-the-book Andrew Wexler is allergic to fun, and loud music gives him a migraine, which makes sharing a wall with the other kindergarten teacher who loves to blast music all day his worst nightmare.

But during the end-of the school year party, their shared tension morphs into a night of wild sex. What neither expected was the surprise consequence of that night.

A baby.

And, if sharing a wall with her nemesis was hard, sharing a classroom with him, while she's feeling hormonal and hungry, is much harder. Turns out that co-teaching isn't the hardest thing they'll have to overcome. Trying not to fall in love with her baby daddy is much harder.

Andrew Wexler does not understand the carefree, chaotic teaching methods of the kindergarten teacher who regularly gives him migraines with all of her music and dance breaks. Yet he has to admit that she is beautiful, and there is absolutely no one he enjoys arguing with more. Valerie Marquez cannot resist the temptation to rile up the straitlaced, cardigan-wearing teacher in the classroom next door. There's no reason that seeing he has actual taste in home furnishings and a pair of addictive lips should change the fact Valerie hates him--until finding out what his lips can do lands them in the very unexpected situation of having a baby together. Andrew finds that there's rhyme and reason to Valerie's teaching methods, which reveal the passionate woman behind them; all the while, Valerie peels away layers of Andrew under the cardigans to find a good man. He just has to convince her, despite their previous animosity, that he's here for the long haul and wants her as much as he wants their baby. VERDICT Halston (The Valentine's Hate) has a knack for banter and humor that will appeal to fans of Meg Cabot, with the cozy rom-com feel of Jenn McKinlay's novels.--Morgan Lockard
