Up, up, and away! Junior Blossom has built the most spectacular invention of all time: a homemade UFO. The Green Phantom took all of the garbage bags and Day-Glo paint Junior could find, and now it requires only one more, very special ingredient. Junior needs help, but his family is too busy to notice. Can a Blossom promise bring everyone back together again?
Newbery Medal-winning author Betsy Byars lifts readers to new heights in this adventure about a spirited family whose strength is out-of-this-world.

No one seems to be interested in Junior Blossom's latest invention--an imaginative but awkwardly constructed UFO. But in true Blossom style Junior's family rallies to support him when he despairs of ever launching the Green Phantom. Blain Fairman gives an uneven reading of this story from Byars's popular Blossom Family Series. In particular, the voice of Junior is ill-chosen; it seems unnatural and so whiny that the boy doesn't seem the least bit likeable. Fairman's characterization of Pap, on the other hand, is wonderful. His portrayal of the grandfather tumbling into a dumpster while attempting to rescue a puppy is the highlight of the reading. C.R.A. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
