      Lauren Fortgang performs the third audiobook in the Tupelo Landing series with an accent that reflects its small-town North Carolina setting and the spirit of its irrepressible sixth-grade narrator, Mo. Fortgang creates voices for each character and captures his or her emotions, moving ably from Mo's best friend, Dale's, anxiety over having to testify against his father in court to Mo's gleeful anticipation of the same event. When Dale's father escapes before trial, Fortgang captures the confusion as well as Mo's determination as she and her Desperado Detective Agency begin work on the case, which quickly proves to be more complicated than a straightforward jailbreak.
