While chasing a gullible Aussie werewolf to warn him about two rogue werewolves who are trying to frame him for half-eating two Pittsburgh humans, Elena and her mate, fellow Pack enforcer and anthropologist Clayton “Clay” Danvers, follow his trail to Anchorage. Armstrong conveys the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness while the couple investigate more crime scenes featuring more mutilated human corpses. Elena makes a great Alpha-style leader as she holds her own against male beasts and solves the well-crafted mystery. New readers may be baffled by Pack politics, but fans will find this a solid entry in Armstrong's popular series.
