Three short stories feature New York private eye Matt Scudder while the fourth has bookseller/burglar Bernie Rhodenbarr visiting Graceland to find Elvis. The cases are interesting because they don't focus on typical crimes, opting instead to look at mercy killing, copyright violation and tabloid reporting. Actor Bruce Weitz does a superb job performing the parts. His use of the same voice for both Scudder and Rhodenbarr is a bit disconcerting at first, but listeners will quickly become focused on the second character. Unlike many other recordings of short story collections, each story begins and ends on the same side. J.L. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
