Gr 1-2-Each title includes instructions on "How to Read a Graphic Novel" and a glossary of key words with pronunciations and definitions, along with discussion questions and writing prompts intended for teachers, parents, and caregivers. In the first book, Gavin becomes friends with school-bus bully Max when the latter has a bike accident and must recuperate at home. In the second, Andrew loses his lunch bag on the school playground. His friend Dylan helps him search, eventually finding it in the school's Lost and Found. Both books are illustrated with bright, cartoon-style art. The panels and text are easy to follow, making them good introductions to graphic novels. However, the stories are too predictable to be memorable.-Marilyn Ackerman, Brooklyn Public Library, NY
