      Brax Patterson knows nothing about babies and is bewildered from the start about why his biological half-brother would leave an infant with him. Tessa Mahoney, the infant's mother, has many secrets she is hiding--including the fact that Walker is her child. Through jumbled-up circumstances, Tessa steps in to help Brax take care of the baby until he can figure out what's going on. That shouldn't take too long, considering he and his adopted brothers own an investigation business. Vowing to keep his newfound family safe, Brax and Tessa are in for the ride of their lives. VERDICT Crouch (Texas Bodyguard: Luke) does an excellent job of drawing the reader in and keeping the suspense coming. Fans of Iris Johansen and Nora Roberts will be enthralled with this novel.--Shondra Brown
