Nigel Bottle and Amelia Swan meet at the Puddle Day Parade, but just as the festivities are about to begin there's a terrible earthquake. Nigel and Amelia run into the fields outside the town and are then drawn into Midwood, where the inhabitants are asking for help.
But helping them, and the people of Puddle and Twixtbridge, will take them on an adventure deep into Midwood and even beyond time itself!
